Warts
Warts are small, rough lumps that can develop anywhere on the skin and are surprisingly common in both children and adults.
Warts are caused by the human papillomavirus (HPV), which enters the skin through tiny cuts or sores, leading to a harmless overgrowth of skin cells.
There are several types of warts, but common warts typically appear on fingers, hands, knees or elbows. Plantar warts affect the feet. Though warts aren’t dangerous, they can be bothersome, sometimes catching on clothing or causing embarrassment.
Symptoms
Warts usually show up as grainy, hard bumps with a rough surface. Some have tiny black dots inside (blocked blood vessels).
Warts are contagious and can spread through direct skin contact or shared surfaces, so it’s wise not to pick or scratch them. Warm, moist environments, like public pools or shared showers, are common places for transmission.
Most warts go away on their own over time, but they can be stubborn, and new ones may appear if the virus remains active.

Even a small mix-up in medication timing or dosage can lead to side effects, reduced effectiveness or health complications. Dosage aids make it easier to follow a prescribed schedule and give both patients and caregivers peace of mind.
Treatment
Managing warts at home often means protecting them from irritation and waiting for the body’s immune system to fight off the virus. Good hygiene and avoiding sharing towels help prevent spreading warts to others. If warts cause discomfort, grow quickly or affect daily activities, treatment may be warranted.
Most home treatments involve gently removing layers of the wart with solutions, gels or patches containing specific ingredients, while more persistent or painful warts may require help from a healthcare professional.
Duofilm
Duofilm is a popular wart treatment suitable for common and plantar warts. This topical solution contains salicylic acid, which works by softening and gradually removing the infected skin, making it easier for the body to shed the wart over time. Duofilm is simple to apply at home. With regular use, Duofilm helps clear warts safely and effectively while minimising the chance of irritation to surrounding skin.
Always read the label and follow the directions for use.
